Beyond the Dome

In October the dome isn’t standing alone. A lit walkway runs from the pasture entrance to the dome door: arches wrapped in light, LED-lit path edges, an uplit dome that glows like a lantern from the road, and projection on the outside of the dome. We built it once and re-theme it as the story moves on, so the same landmark keeps transforming: a living garden for Green Feast, liquid color for Revel, candles and black cloth for Thin Night on Halloween. We design whole environments now: the approach, the threshold and the room.

Psychedelic Rock Journey

A slower-burning, deeply immersive journey rooted in classic and neo-psychedelia. Fractals, liquid light, geological and cosmic imagery and oil-on-water forms drift across the full dome, moving with a soundtrack of psychedelic rock curated by Zoe Eckblad. Road Flare Visuals build the journey with their signature liquid light technique (hand-mixed oil, water and color, filmed for the dome), layered with generative and hand-drawn content mapped to the dome.

    In 1969 Zoe Eckblad was hired as the first professional female disc jockey in the Sacramento radio market, at free-form KZAP. She selected this soundtrack, recorded from vinyl.

  • Road Flare VisualsVisuals

    David & Anamarie Godgluck, Nashotah, WI. A husband-and-wife VJ duo with a decade of immersive visual performance, built on the 1960s liquid light show and carried into full-dome projection.

A story in three parts

The Hollow Door

An original legend written for this land: the glacier, the kettle pool with no bottom, the settlers who came in 1846, and a woman named Wynn who was already there. Told in three parts along the archway, in the order the town once held its feasts: green to black.
